1975 Beta coupe 2L

« on: June 28, 2010, 12:34:11 PM »

Dear All,

Just wondered if anyone has checked the accuracy of their rev counter? I have fitted an aftermarket item to my modified 2litre coupe and it reads consistent with the dash item up to around 4-5000rpm after which the aftermarket item reads differently so that at an indicated 7000rpm the Lancia dash item is well off the clock.....at an estimated 7600+rpm!!!!! and I thought 2 litre's don't rev....

It brings back memories of my 1600HPE which I could get well off the rev counter.....until one day it blew out no4 spark plug which had been very cross threaded......

I have a 1600 coupe, and find that over 5000rpm, the rev counter is often quite dodgy, doesn't seem to increase at the same rate as the engine??  But never tested properly..  Should I be revving a 30 years old motor this high?Huh??  Hell Yeah...  I'm just a twin cam hooligan!!

It's a myth, my right foot says otherwise Wink
I wouldn't say it's the most accurate of equipment but it could be french. To be fair to mine it is pretty accurate on the red line but a bit hesitant between 5000-6000rpm; but then again I think it's the car saying not again!
