Hi there,

Just quick question, what was original standard color of the engine block?

Getting engine rebuilt at moment and wanting to confirm what color to paint outside

Currently has a grey brown paint on it. Is this standard and factory?

Cheers

I don't know for sure and it may even have changed over the years but I thought the block was originally a darkish and not all that attractive grey, from my point of view I wouldn't worry and would do it what ever colour you like not least because the fact you had to ask proves that few folks know what colour they were when new and not many are actually bothered (unlike fans of British grey porridge). Guy croft does his blocks in silver Hammerite.

S2//FL cars had flat grey paint.  When I bought my red coupe it was 8 years old and the majority of original paint on the block was still intact. The sump was black.
