Are the VX coolant water pumps identical to the other Betas as mine has a  noisey bearing and needs replaced?

Found this and it says that all are the same but I seem to remember somewhere that the VX pumps are uprated.

Also, are the bolts which hold the pulley on reverse threaded as I cannot shift them?

Thanks.

Pump has slightly deeper impeller, bolts are normal. You need graf pump pa168 or similar

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wasserpumpe-GRAF-PA168-/110931946431?pt=DE_Autoteile&hash=item19d40f2bbf

The bolts get rusted into the block but don't worry if they shear off they are not too difficult to remove once the pump is off

Oops read post wrong but same applies pulley bolts are normal thread

I bought exactly the graf pa168 for spares (looks like OEM), hopefully will fit my i.e. engine, as blocks are rather identical.

Go for a Monte water pump. Don't know why but this is what GC recommends. Eric may well be able to say why or even disagree.

I know it is old thread but maybe it will be helpful for someone in the future. Now I had the chance to directly compare the two types of pumps. The only difference as it was said is the impeller height - 16mm for VX vs. 13mm for standard engines. Other details are exactly the same. That means a VX pump should improve cooling efficiency of standard engines, e.g. of mine  Cool
