Hi All

Just seen this picture and it was described as 828AB-1A0, did the 1800 have the distributor coming out of one of the cam covers?

Looking at that pipe from the manifold I am guessing that thus engine may have EGR and be a North American unit?

At the price perhaps in any case better to find a used one and put the saving into saving up for a GC rebuild?

Oddly enough I found a sketch of the engine in the Haynes book and described as the USA version of the engine with the distributor coming off the cam using the Marelli S144 CBY distributor, it also shows the pipe coming from the back to front. The distributor is odd in having two sets of points.....

And this is where the plot thickens......

On looking at an old picture of what I think is the G3 rally Coupe 8v engine, which was a 1800, that also has the disti driven from the exhaust cam in the same way. Not having any 1800s sold here makes it difficult, but anyone have any pics of the 1800?

May have a look at my S1 parts book and see what it says......

That's a US emission strangled engine, so low compression, only around 85BHP....

I have seen 2 litre models in Australia with the same top mount distributor for cars with Air Conditioning
