HI,
My spyder is a T reg (1978)
I need to fit rear seat belts and looking at the posts here some of the cars can only use lap belts and some have the fittings for the diagonal seat belt.
I will check my car for fittings however if I can use the diagonal belts then any ideas on where to purchase some suitable ones?
I need to fit child seats in rear so am hopefull that I have diagonal fittings also.
Thanks
Simon

Spiders have fittings only for lap belts (Coupes have fittings for diagonal belts).

Not true.

Both of my spiders (s2 pre f/l) have had fittings for fixed diagonal belts with mounting points under the fibreglass rear deck cover (some have access panels) and on the wheelarch.

As to where to get them I'd ask in a motor factors - they should still be able to get hold of them. Failing that they are on EBay - just check it's a UK source.

Or find someone breaking a S3 or VX Coupe, they had them fitted as standard.

Dear HFStuart,
Could you please point these mounting points on the photo I have uploaded.
It would be most helpful as I am in the course of restoring the Car.

Not quite shown in the picture but they're in the flat section of the rear deck - under where I've put the large black arrows.

HI,
Has anyone purchased aftermarket diagonal seat belts for a Spyder?
I cannot use lap belts as I am hoping to fit child seats in the back.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Simon,
I know this was an old post and you're now selling (sold?) your spyder but hope you won't mind my asking about the same question you posed 2 years ago. Did you manage to fit 3 point seat belts? Any advice for someone on the same mission? Took possession of my 79 spyder yesterday and need to get baby seats in there ASAP! Many thanks in advance. Craig

I know this is an old thread .. . . .

The picture from StuartHF shows 3 mounting points for rear seat belts. Has anyone fitted rear retractable belts and if so, where did you place the as the recoil mechanism?

Hi John

After a LOT of careful study I am fitting 3 point non inertia reel belts. The box slots in the rear shelf are not strong enough IMHO so I had 2 additional points welded into the box section that goes between the strut towers. Have a lot at my pictures in members cars and you will see them. I also put in ISO fix for kiddy seats from a Ford Focus.

Hi Eric, not able to find any members cars or project cars with your name associated in the Gallery section or via Members. Any pointers?
