While my car is off the road I check everything every fortnight. This weeks checks were looking good when the sometimes erratic engine cooling fan cut in and out at the right temperatures, which sometimes it doesn't (I nearly had an overheat last year when stuck in traffic).

Unfortunately the windscreen washers have stopped working. Not the fuse as the wipers still work, and I swapped motors to no avail. Looks like the switch. Has anyone had any luck at cleaning these up in situ or is this usually fatal, requiring replacement of the whole switch set?

Hi Neil,

I have a spare ones but have not checked them fully, but I will be able to check on Thursday when working on a 2000 i.e. and of course I'll test the one thats currently on the i.e.

It sounds like the something inside the main switch assembly has failed and that means its pretty much a dead duck.

I have S1 & S2 column switches that I have taken stalks off to make up a good set, does yours have brown triangles stem ends or black serrated like the S2/FL?

Can you post a picture?
