does anyone know if it is possible to remove the seat covers and the replace them?

I have some vinyl seats that have torn along the stitching and I was thinking that, if I could remove them and have them stitched, it would work out significantly cheaper than having them completely retrimmed

For a 79 spyder if that makes any difference

Yes it's quite possible given patience. Provided it's just the stitching that has gone and not the material it should be fairly straightforward.

For re-installing I recomend a set of hog ring pliers (and hog rings) they make life a lot simpler. Don't buy them from Frost though  - eBay is far cheaper!

Never done it on a beta but on our Mg tf i've used cable ties in some areas rather than hog rings and they seem to work just fine

The only issue I can see with cable ties is that they do tend to go brittle with age, so will need replacing at some point, whereas metal ones tend to just go on...
