Title: Detailed 2000 Carbed Engine Pics Needed
Post by: aldad138 on September 13, 2015, 09:11:14 PM
Hello Betaboyz...I have a U.S. Spec 1979 coupe.  We are trying to undo some damage to the integrity of the system, centered around the smog setup and hoses.  Neil suggested a car to look at, or pics to use as a reference to sort out the rerouted and piecemeal vacuum hose and wiring we have encountered.

I am in Salem Oregon, hardly Beta territory so a similar car to look at is not likely.  If any of you have a similar Beta, can you send me pics of your engine from as many sides as possible?  I have a Haynes and factory manual cd on order, but think real examples would be very helpful.  Thanks for all the insight.  You are great for us newbies.

Alex

Hi Alex

If you have not already tried, I suggest you also put on the Lancisti.net forum which has lots of US subscribers and a fair few US spec Betas, though a lot will naturally be FI engines.

Thanks Peter.  I already was directed to 4 downloads that will help us a lot, and a fellow Lancisti from not far up the road.

I appreciate your help.

Alex

Hi Alex

Great result, glad to be of help.

If I remember correctly there was something unique about the config of the 79 carb based cars in the US which makes them quite different to EU cars.

The smog setup on these cars is very restrictive, and different than Euro spec cars of the age.  I know it causes owners to go rogue and remove things, reroute and improvise. This puts people like me in a bind...

Nice to have a community to lend a hand.
