Title: Coupe Motor and Gearbox Mount Replacement
Post by: aldad138 on August 31, 2015, 07:12:55 PM
Good morning, afternoon or evening- I am new to the forum, having just taken the wheel of a 79 Coupe.  It is having shifting problems, and my mechanic and I think it may be due to the horribly deteriorated motor and transmission mounts.  I have a parts place in my state, Oregon, listing out the replacement mounts for $200 a piece ($600 total). Anyone out there have experience sourcing mounts from other cars, or refurbishing the old ones by molding new urethane bushings?

We plan to give it a whirl making our own replacements and if they fly, I will post and offer the instructions to others needing the parts without breaking the bank.

Thanks for letting me in.

Alex

Hi

There are a number on Ebay, eg see here

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Supporti-motore-Set-of-3x-Engine-mounts-for-Lancia-Beta-Coupe-Spider-/131592232181?hash=item1ea3821cf5 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Supporti-motore-Set-of-3x-Engine-mounts-for-Lancia-Beta-Coupe-Spider-/131592232181?hash=item1ea3821cf5)

You should get them all for well less than $600

If you check out other sellers on Ebay you may be able to buy even better than the listing above.

You might also try either of these guys -

http://www.midwest-bayless.com/ (http://www.midwest-bayless.com/)

I've bought parts, shipped them to the UK and paid tax on them and they've still been good value

Check the gearstick adjustment. I think when in neutral it's supposed to be vertical in the side to side axis and inclinded towards the back of the car by 15degrees.

It's worth looking at the balljoints in the linkage and changing the gearbox oil for a semi synthetic too.

Thanks!  I will check out UK EBay and Vick auto.  I will also check the shifter linkage and make sure nothing else is going on.

Hi

There is a good replacement gear selector bush kit available from John Montgomery (bertoneman@aol.com) in the US which comes well recommended.

They are available from various sources as I understand it.

Thanks Peter.  So from your knowledge, do you believe the shifting issues are bushings or gear selector based?  She dies not want to go into 1st unless the car is running and will not select reverse or 5th.  This happened over the last 6 months.

My hope is to get her going as my daily driver, without breaking the bank, then address the lng term project.
