Title: Door skins
Post by: droptop on August 29, 2013, 09:13:08 AM
I'm getting through the mechanical work on the spider and I hope to tackle the bodywork next year as it is showing its age at this stage.
Nothing structural needs doing as the floor, chassis members, suspension and subframe mounting points are all 100% solid.
One thing I do need though is a pair of good doors and really it's the door skins that have suffered with the rest of the doors being healthy.
I've seen replacement door skins are available from the Betaboyz parts section and I wonder if anyone on here has used them and if so, how much of a task is it to fit them and are they a good fit?
I turned down a pair of excellent coupe doors as I didn't want to have to get the tops changed because I feared that without a well constructed jig the windows would never close again.
As usual, any advice is greatly welcome.
By the way, when I look at my list of posts asking about replacing this and that, I'm beginning to wonder just what I drive when I take the spider out as I seem to be rebuilding a wreck but it's far from that.

I had Spyder door made from Coupe doors and it is straight forward for an experienced body shop with Spyder doors as a pattern.

That sounds interesting.
Mine are not too bad but the joint where the two skins come together needs welding.
They are coming apart just where the door has caught the front wing and damaged door and wing .
A bit of work in it!!
Thanks
