Title: Rear brake adjustement
Post by: archigraphe on November 08, 2012, 03:43:57 PM
Hi to all

Is there a way to adjust the brakes the car bitter placed on stands, I think including the rear brake controller.

Or should I adopt the conventional technique, emptied and car wheel in contact with the ground?

On the road my handbrake is totally ineffective in tight corners ...

I always thought a handbrake is for parking use  ;)

If it's any thing like my Fiat 124 Spider, it's totally ineffective especially for parking use!
I always find a brick quite a useful tool.
Best,
Chas. :)

Hand brake is self adjusting however from what I remember if you over adjust  the cable it will not adjust correctly. Worth a try to slacken the cable off then drive down the road using heavy braking both forwards and back wards then readjust the cable and see if it is better. As regards the proportioning valve I guess if you want a certain balance it could be down to trial and error, otherwise I would follow the workshop manual

It's exactly the same answer I would say to lukasdeopalenica

Effectively a non conventionnal use for this Handbrake...

But all time I tried this handbrake...... I heard my copilot says.... "useles, you don't have handbrake.... ::) ::)", so I take this tigh corner, with the rear gear, and with the first and again the rear and could go in the good direction....... Really frustating thing.... :-\ :-\

The car is on stand for this week end, and I intend to success find this handbrake.... I think grease the cable mechanisme on the rear caliper, and as says rossocorsa maybe follow the light worshop manual...
