Title: Which model is this from?
Post by: MattNoVAT on July 03, 2012, 06:57:53 PM
I have a spare top water rail that is going on Fleabay which is not off an IE or VX as I have just sold one of those, but its not the same as my S1 nor my S2/FL because this has two extra outlets.  If they have been added then someone did  very good job, but when it was shot blasted the welds/braizing all look to be done at the same time.

It's definitely off a Beta as I've checked it against the VX version and the one that will be going on my 1600 and the dimensions etc are identical.

Any ideas?

Could it be from a U.S.A spec engine?

Its a long shot but there would have to be very few of those in the UK !

I'll check it out.  Thanks Tim

Matt

It really does look like a VX item with the heater pass through as only the later cars had this. It was a useful mod as it stopped the cooking of the head gasket at number 4 cylinder.

Thanks Eric, your answer would make sense because it came with a lot of parts I acquired and there was a VX head in with it but two top water rails, one of each type.

Thanks for your help!

If you don't mind I'll use that useful bit of info in the auction!

Hi Eric,

Its not NOS, its been shotblasted, the metal has been checked for good integrity and then powder coated.

I actually had a few top water rails, after shotblasting two of them were scrapped because the metal had perforations, they only get powder coated if they are in good condition.
