Title: Spider rear seat belts
Post by: joe1999 on July 18, 2011, 09:52:21 AM
Ok I need to install rear seat belts in my 1981 spider to get registration

I have purchased lapbelts. I have removed the rear panel card (like door cards) there is a plastic moulding attached to the card that wraps around the inner wheel arch and behind that is want looks like the nut to connect the seat belt.

Can anyone tell me if i attach the seat belt behind the moulding it looks like I would need to cut a channel through the moulding to feed the belt through. Or have I got this completely wrong? (not a first ???)

Thanks

Joe

If you take out the seat cushion there should be a threaded hole going through the wheel arch (probably plugged). This is where the bolt for your lapbelt goes - if it is the same as my Coupe.

Don't want to be a Jonah,  but when I restored my spyder the plate in the wheelarch reinforcing the belt mounting point had created a mass of perforations which resulted in a lot of additional welding.  As there are only two of us I did away with the mountings.
