Title: 037 style taillight panel
Post by: Radical Racing on May 24, 2011, 12:53:52 AM
I fitted a Roger Granthan made 037 style fiberglass rear bumper to my 1976 Scorpion.    I also moved the license plate down onto this panel.   I was then not happy with the space left over where the license plate had been.  So I created an 037 style taillight panel with full width louvers to eliminate the space.   The panel is made of 3/4" thick Sintra with a slightly rough matte black color and texture.
The general shape and size of the louvers were designed to match those on the engine compartment lid.

My pattern incorporates the stock taillights but could be easily changed to fit various round lights that some Scorpion/Montecarlo owners favor.   The panel comes fitted with the studs and nuts to mount it.  No change is required to the stock opening.   A simple screw and flat bracket holds the stock taillights in place.

The panels are US$300 plus shipping.

Todd

I am intrigued as one of the few Montecarlo owners on this Forum. Have you posted this on the Monte Consortium Forum yet? Can you add some pictures.

Thank you

Eric

As a Monte owner and being brutally honest I dont like it 037 style or not.It doesnt look right to me, never mind being to busy.
Vertical slats on the bonnet followed by horizontal slatted wide space (too wide) only to go back to vertical slats on the new bumper.
At $300 I like it even less.
I think I will stick with the original.
No offence intended just being honest !

Todd,
That looks really cool. I love it! Nice work mate. I'm not familiar with 'sintra', though. I'll read up on it.
