Title: Vx Clutch
Post by: monte on April 25, 2011, 12:21:00 PM
Hi,  I have just purchased a Beta Coupe VX and would value any advice in relation to replacing the clutch.

The clutch release bearing is noisy so I intend to replace the lot , bearing , pressure plate and friction disc.
Is the VX clutch the same as or different to that used in the ordinary 2000cc beta , or what ?. It is only my intension to use the car for mormal road use .

I also have a Thema ie. and do have a spare clutch kit in my garrage , will this fit the VX ? reading some earlier posts on the forum I get the impression that the the thema presure plate and friction disc will do fine but that I will need to get a Beta release bearing ?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Tom

Tom

Your VX Coupe will have a 228mm flywheel whilst your Thema IE will have a 215mm flywheel like a Beta 2000, but check the item in your box i.e. measure the diameter of the friction plate which will be typically be 3mm smaller.
You need a Beta 2000 clutch release bearing which is larger than the 1600 or 1800 items. You are looking for an 8V Integrale push type clutch to fit your VX flywheel and they are available on the internet. Go for sprung centre with organic friction material as this will take slip and give years of service. The 16V Intgegrale clutch is 235mm and is pull type. Neither Integrale release bearing will be any use to you but expect it in the 8V clutch kit anyway.

I used a Dedra / Delta Turbo/Integrale clutch and Beta 2000 release bearing. Working perfect
