Title: Bootlid Springs....
Post by: SanRemo78 on June 21, 2023, 09:28:30 AM
Hi all, I managed to release the two boot lid springs on my Coupe restoration this week but it was a struggle. So much so that I'm now wondering how they are reattached! Is there a technique I haven't worked out yet? I've got a while before I need to reattach them!

I was also wondering about replacing them with gas struts - has anyone done that modification yet? It may be relevant for me if I decide to run a (heavy) HiFi spoiler on the boot lid.

Cheers
Guy

Not sure if this would work (I haven't tried it), but have you thought about getting a spring puller - normally used by motorcyclist to re-attach motorcycle centre stand springs (and those things are tough). Here's a link and a photo:

And it's a Beta!  ;D

Also interested. Mine could use a bit more tension but I had visions of springs flying everywhere

Hi Guy

On the Spider I used a length of cord to pull on one end of the spring to extend it.
