Not mine, obviously Smiley but sounds interesting and a piece of beta history and thought  I should post it up in case anyone on here feels the urge, I've got a rear spoiler from one of these tucked away somewhere lol, wonder how bad it is bodily?

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C382425

One family owner from new. Lots of history, service books, bills and old MOTs. This car is one of only two still registered of an original 300 sold limited edition. Tickford A Division of Aston Martin were commissioned to spruce up this car and features include extensive rust-proofing, alloy wheels, gold body stripes, rear boot spoiler plus special stereo, hence "Hi Fi Coupe". Timing belt replaced at 60,527. Just been serviced. Totally original car.

 Condition: 2 Estimated sale price: £500 - £700

I did find an Ebay ad in 2011 where it only just got past £1000 but didn't meet it's reserve and a later gumtree ad where it seemed to have sold.

Not my cup of tea, I'm going to be on the hunt soon though........

did you go and see it? just curious as to how rusty it is most hifi seem to have been terminal rust buckets due to bad pre sale  storage and age before first sale, in pics it doesnt seem to look too bad?

the ads from ebay and gumtree said it was rust free "assuming you take that with a teeny pinch of salt"

here's the original ebay listing,

I didn't go to see it because I was just about to emigrate.  Had I been staying in the UK I'd have had it because there are so few about and some need to be saved.

Any Beta that age thats been off the road for a while is going to have a few rust issues somewhere!!

if the bodywork is sound it seems a bit of a mystery why no one has bought it before now

Hi All

Personally the mods and colour scheme are not my cup of tea, much prefer the purer original looks.

The listing from 2011 says it was brought here from Italy, but I thought this was a special UK version, not sold elsewhere intended to clear UK stocks?

Was the engine the standard i.e. one or the VX?

I thought the engines remained the same as the 2000ie.

they were all standard 2 litre S2FL carb cars that had allegedly stood around for a while unsold, unsubstantiated theory is that tickford had to rectify surface corrosion hence the fancy stripes etc  and new wheel colour but who knows this far after the fact? Certainly they have  survived badly compared with other Betas of same era maybe due to festering rust in box sections from extended storage? whether they actually made/converted the full 300 or not I suspect is debatable.

The wheels for the Hi Fi were different from the factory, they have a different part number cast into them.  I have a set and I suspect they are lighter but I didn't get round to weighing them as I was moving.  Will do it this weekend.

I think they are the same colour combo as the special edition zagato for north america, don't forget that they always had at least two wheel suppliers though for the same basic wheel design. Tyres were changed to Pirelli P6 on the Hifi perhaps because the originals had developed flat spots? or maybe I'm being too harsh on Lancia??

Not sure if you are, after all I thought the carb 2l had been obsoleted well before 1982, so essentially selling off old models as new version...
