Hi

I was investigating a fuel starvation issue (i think i have blocked carb jets that a lot of people have mentioned on the forum) and thought id check a few other bits like the dizzy cap whilst i was down there. I couldnt believe the state of the pick up wires leading into the distributor.. chewed up, exposed and one even broken.. so got no idea how ive been starting.!. Anyone know where i can get a replacement pick up in the UK,  and is this a common fault.?.. I guess the whole lot starts rubbing together against the cap over the years

cheers

Wouldn't it be easier to make some wires up with crimped spade terminals? Most motoring shops sell wire and terminals, mainly for the big car hi-fi market. You just need a crimping tool then, again fairly cheap and I've used mine many times over the years.

Hi Neil
sorry, probably being thick here.. But terminals to fit into where?. the section above the magnet that the wires go into doesnt allow any movement or opening to do that.

cheers

I would contact the local Bosch agent, pick up leads can be common to a lot of engines.

making your own can be problematical due to original lead resistance.

Sorry, was thinking of the wire outside the dizzy cap, I can see now that you mean inside.
