The captive nuts used to hold the subrame to the body, usually once the subframe is in place the bolts go in pretty easily but at the moment I can't get one to catch in the nut threads.

Is there a way to get at these? - I've a nasty suspicion one of mine at the back of the subframe has made a bid for freedom and isn't captive any more.

In the past I have used a modified bolt as a stud.
Screwed it in first then jacked the subframe up to it.

I put a weld on the side of the bolt to stop it going
through the captivated nut.

Hope that heps.

That sounds like a plan before attacking the housing - thanks.

NB Replacing brake pipes on a Spider  - not a job I want to do again in a hurry unless the engine is out !
