This might be a daft question but, does a 1600 head set fit a 2 litre?

Depends on the 1600. There were two different bore sizes.

The later one (1585cc) is more common and has the same 84mm bore so the gasket set will probably fit.

The earlier one (1592cc) has a 80mm bore and wont.

That's a shame....it's a 1592 that i've seen,cheap.

I've also seen a cheap set for a Strada 105tc and a Argenta 2000....How different would those be if at all?

The one i told you about at rock auto for the 1994 Undecided engine is for mpi and is $80 dollars + shipping. These are half the price.

Also,am i right in syaing the mpi head gasket is thicker than the carb one?

I have fitted 105TC head gaskets no problems. The Argenta/105TC set should be OK, not sure about some of the ancilliary gaskets, but the head, cam base, cam cover, inlet, exhaust, all the important ones should be the same. Be aware that after 1984 a lot of the Fiat/Lancia engines went to a reversed port head (exhaust at front, inlet at rear).

Thanks.....I might take a chance anyway as it's only 21.50 for a head set.

Maybe a bit late, but I ordered a full engine gasket set at http://www.martinwillems.nl/

This set includes the cilinder head gasket and all other seals in the engine for only €38,24.

Martin Willems has mostly if not all running parts for Beta for very reasonable prices, if you need help translating from Dutch you may contact me.
