Hello all.
I have recently obtained from Mark at Betaboyz, some original water shields for my Spyder doors. They are held at the top with small plastic plugs through a plastic frame attached to the top of the plastic shields. They also have small flaps welded to one side of them which I think help to position the shields.
Could anyone tell me which way these are fitted to the door please? Is the small flap hanging on the inside of the apertures in the door or does the shield itself hang the inside of the aperture and the small flap outside the aperture.
This also makes a difference to whether the plastic frame at the top of the shield makes it fit flush to the top of the aperture or whether the shields sit ever so slightly proud of the door panel.

Also had anyone got any recommendations of trimmers in the East Midlands to repair door cards.  I see historically Peter  used a guy in Melton Miwbray who did "home work". Is he still going?

Hi Clifford,
The top of the shield sits flush and outside with the white strip outer-most.
The shield then, halfway down, diverts to the inside [ at the cut point], and the flaps
are on the outside. Originally, black goo was used to keep the
flaps in place, use small bits of duct tape, or similar, to secure.
Hope that's clear!

No info on trimmers, sorry.

The trimmer I used in Melton unfortunately had an illness and no longer works. My current interior has just been delivered to a guy he recommended who works in Rothley. As I have yet to see any results of course, I cannot recommend him, but I do live in hope given the expected cost and he is also a classic car enthusiast…..

I was thinking about when I might do something with my door cards and rear side trims and wondered whether you have now got your trim back from the new trimmer you found in Rothley Peter?

Not yet, he was due to start about a week ago and I have not talked to him , but am due to deliver the final two door cards to him over the next week or so as soon as I have finished repairing them.

I will let you know how he is getting on after I visit.

Also you say you are repairing the cards. Is that replacing the card (hardboard) before recovering?

Definitely not replacing, they are not simple flat sheets, so repair what you have (or get replacements) is much simpler if you want to retain the original profiles.
