Hi all,
I was a mile out from home towards France recently, when the rear wiper arm fell off!

It was due to wear on the aluminium knurled spigot.
On later removal,I found a Lucas wiper motor, not expecting that.
I located this item:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191966345836

which is a new aftermarket spindle [Lucas 72872/72831]
that is also used on Herald Vitesse, TVR and Lotus vehicles.

It's a direct replacement,except that it's about 6mm taller. I added a simple spacer
inside to make up the difference.

I also found that the spiral wire tube had numerous un-needed bends, causing
unwanted friction. Someone had been here before. Straightening it out
and just giving it the one curve it needed has greatly improved the speed.

Pics not great,sorry.
