Hi All

Quick question on fixing the stainless sill trim pieces.

They are held in place via screws, simple enough, but what if anything goes between them and the sill?

Hi Peter

I used some Dum Dum strip to stop buzz. Not sure if the factory did. They did behind the rear trim panel lower plastic bits probably to stop buzz or ratlle.

Hi Eric

Thanks for the suggestion, will give it a go. I did not fancy just leaving it simply screwed down to the painted sill.

Dont forget the rubber end pieces. The act as finishers and stop the plates fretting the sill at the ends

I think you are talking about the the long length thin strips along the sill, I was meaning the trim plates which sit on top of the sill under the door, sorry to not make that clear....

The trim plates on the sill do come with rubber/plastic end trims.

If you can't find them, you could use grommet strip to stop the ends rubbing on the sill. Just Google black grommet strip.

Hi

Thanks for the suggestion, I will keep it as the backstop.

I revisited my boxes of rubber parts which came from a bunch of Coupe stuff I had and found a pair which means I have one sill cover sorted, just need another pair!

Yes they do come with those from the factory (all models I think). Apart from getting lost, the other problem is they seem to shrink which of course makes them a bit of a naff fit.
I’m having a sort out at the moment and definitely have some stainless trims, so hopefully there will be some plastic ends. I’ll keep you posted.
