Hello all. .

I have searched high and low for a solution to this but cannot on here. I have an Australian '78 RH drive beta coupe 78.

I have tried to put in the master brake cylinder (i think its called?? the round thing with the 3 reservoirs?? Or is it brake booster??) to the drivers side, but it simply WILL not fit (hits the side of the chassis).

So, I looked and looked at the parts that i have, and I found a pedal set that has a plate which sits on the firewall that transfers the booster to the LHS (passenger side) with a lever from the brake pedal running to the passenger side, horizontally.

Question is, when i put the brake booster (or master cylinder) on the passenger side, the bit that the brake pedal mechanism makes contact with goes into a rectangular part of the chassis, in the cars interior?? like an air con area??

I will back this up with some photos tomorrow. Would be so grateful with any advice - this is keeping me up at night haha!

Hi

The servo or brake booster and the brake master cylinder sit on the LHS on all the cars. For RHD there is that rod mechanism which transfers the pedal movement over to the LHS and into the passenger footwell. This is surrounded by a metal case which normally has a fibre/plastic cover screwed to it.

Hope that helps

Thanks Peter - that really does help!

Does anyone happen to have photos of the assembly for RHD inside and outside of firewall? That would just make it easier to find the linkage!

Not sure what the linkage end looks like, the part that goes onto the brake master cylinder end (horseshoe shape)

Hi

This photo shows the transfer bracket assembly from the RHS to the LHS.

https://ibb.co/Lpt4C3T

The other photos above also show the ‘box’ internal to the passenger footwell.

Hopefully that is enough for you?

DeXiTroN there is a bellcrank that is supposed to be mounted in that box, if you look there is an 8mm hole for the bolt on the right side of it, it bolts through vertically.
See your photo belw;
https://ibb.co/YX10zX8
It connects the rod to the horse shoe, thats why you cannot fathom how it works as its not fitted.

Also the mechanism below;
https://ibb.co/Lpt4C3T
Has to be fitted to the bulkhead first, in the engine bay. The part where your right foot is (in the photo) fits to the drivers side, the pedal box is secured to studs that protrude through on the inside.
The servo/master studs pass through it on the opposite end and sandwhiches it to the bulkhead.

For some reason you have wiring coming out of the heater hose hole - its that diagonal slot on the bulkhead;
https://ibb.co/dcxyfMk
And next to it on the left you have a gromet with a wire that i am sure should not be there as it will be trapped under the metal plate of the transfer.

Look at the diagonal slot on the transfer, it should line up with the slot on the bulkhead.

lovely paint job by the way.

Thanks guys for all your help and pics. I have finally connected the plate to the firewall, but don't seem to have the part that is inside the box near passenger (RHD) footwell. I'm assuming its a pivot as mentioned above?

If I am unable to find this, does anyone have one, or know where to source one?  Happy to swap as I have mountains of spares.

I will now start to dig through my parts for it.
