Lancia Beta Spider 1981

« on: August 21, 2019, 11:13:16 PM »

Does anyone know where I can buy a new pair of brake disks ?  They are out of stock in the online shop, and can't find any available on the net.  Any ideas would be very helpful.

Regards, Chris

Have you tried ebay? Disks are becoming increasingly hard to get hold of. We could do with some research as to if any other cars used the same.....

Hi Neil,
Thanks for the reply.  I stalk eBay most evening (not always for Beta parts ..) and there's been nothing on there for a while. There are plenty of disks for the Montecarlo - not sure if they are the same ?

Dis(c)s - There currently seem to be several listings to EBC items for non-Montecarlo Beta models?

Hello Chris

I have a set of unused front discs. They've developed a light tarnish and surface rust from wherever they were stored so would need a skim/clean. I can PM you some photos if you like

kind regards

Unfortunately I think you'll find that they list from the catalogue but there is no stock, becoming a major issue for Betas now

Hi all,

I have contacted 6 manufacturers all who previously made front and rear brakes for the coupe hopefully something can be done regarding this.
I know you can order them from the US beta site but they are far to expensive.

Cheers George

I rather suspect that the patterns have been scrapped

Search on ebay for

"brake discs Lancia Beta 1980 828BC 2000"    ............

Alternatively contact Brakes International 01706 666999 to see if they can get hold of items for you, they supplied front discs for me a few years ago and rebuilt my calipers.

I notice that the Lancia Lybra and Fiat Multipla used 251mm solid rear discs with a 4 stud fixing. I suppose it's too much to hope that these might fit? If anyone can supply accurate additional dimensions for front and rear discs I can compare.

rossocorsa Yeah I agree Sad
I have had a few responses most of them say it's just not worth producing them.
Anyway I will keep trying for everyone including myself must have easily sunk 4 hours into this now lol

BUT if any of you do need some brake discs urgently the links below should be able to help you.
unfortunately, it will set you back nearly £300 for front and backs Sad

No, not even close. Oh well, it was worth a punt.

I guess the only way would be to get someone with a CAD setup to machine the disc from a solid billet. At least being solid discs you don't need to worry about ventilation. What material would Lancia have used for their discs? I'm pretty sure that ductile iron would work, but there may be a cheaper option.

In all honesty most folk would never wear a new set out so in truth £300 is not so bad , if/when someone reproduces discs I would guess that they'll be this price anyway as the batches will be small with no savings on scale. Even in Italy it seems they are difficult to find.

Tarox rear discs for the Beta are available on eBay - at a price (£270):

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tarox-Sport-Japan-Rear-Solid-Brake-Discs-Lancia-Beta-828-1973-86-/312209157913

What gets me is that discs for Montes are everywhere and readily available, despite the Monte being a car with much lower production volumes. I guess it's because they also fit more mainstream cars of the period.

Hi

A quick Ebay search gave this

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EBC-PREMIUM-OE-FRONT-DISCS-D067-FOR-LANCIA-BETA-1-3-1976-82/121498056171?fits=Car+Make%3ALancia%7CModel%3ABeta&epid=26006821145&hash=item1c49d935eb:g:HdAAAOSwAL9Uc~9z

Says he has 5 available and in UK, have you asked them if actually in stock?

I am not sure they would fit Peter had a look and some of the measurements are slightly different. Plus Ebay also sez that it wont fit a beta coupe which is odd.. but that not always accurate.
Also the photo if that's accurate then it for sure wont fit missing the holes for securing bolts.
Regardless i have dropped the seller an email regarding this see what comes back.

Alright he got back to me!
He claims they do fit coupes so that's something ..
The photo is also a generic used one so that's good.
The negative is that the stock isnt real and that the lead time is atleast a few months if not more.

But still maybe worth doing!

Hi

Ok, so back to the drawing board so to speak. I think the brakes are the same for all Betas except Monte.

I hate sellers who do not actually have the stock, but show as if they do.
