Hi,

I used to own a series 1 Beta Coupe quite a few years ago & was wondering how many series 1 Beta Coupes & Spiders are left? I had a look on 'How Many Left' but that doesn't differentiate between series 1 or 2. I've always had a soft spot for the first series, I just love that groovy interior  Cool.

Cheers, Rob

Very few true series 1 (1592 or 1756) quite a few series 2 pre facelift (1585 or 1995) a lot were crushed (probably unnecessarily in many cases) due to the daily mirror/that's life witch hunt.

The pre-facelift cars have the same interior, and some of the earlier 1300 and 1600s have the flat bonnet too.

Interior isn't the same only similar, the series one cars with fabric seats have different fabric with velvet on the bolsters. Also early LHD cars have the highly desirable yellow instruments.

I'm pretty sure its the same interior on Spiders - below window level at least. I don't think I've ever seen a spider with the yellow dials. Perhaps their been dropped by the time spider production started.

I've hardly ever seen any Beta with the yellow instruments and then only in photos, yes the spider interior seems the same or very similar as for that matter do the coupé vinyl interiors. Not sure about HPEs but I suspect S1 and S2 don't differ much if at all.

I think the yellow dials were a development of the Fulvia 3 white(?) dials, but they were slated as un-readable at the time. As you say, they seem to look good now though....

Yes, I'd forgotten about that fabric. Do you remember Mattnovat? He'd sourced a similar orange material for his Series 1 restoration, but it involved manually scraping off a foam backing. What happened to him/his car? He was a regular contributor on here some time ago.

Matt lives in France, I presume he took the car with him.

I've got three  Grin and i'd love a couple more (one each for the kids). Also have a series 1 berlina 1800. All are restored projects though and my biggest problem is finding the time.
