Hi all some advice needed please...
Purchased a brand new starter from eBay , was sent a daihatsu charade !
Another one sent out , looks to be the right one ..however
Upon fitting it won't sit flush , because of a small collar coming out of the top mounting hole on the engine . Obviously there should be a recess on starter but it hasn't , do I try and send back again or try and lose this collar ??
Thanks in advance ..

Positioning of the starter for correct mesh with the flywheel is pretty important. I'd send it back.

Seems like you're dealing with someone supplying poor quality items so send it back without interfering with it as there may be other problems when you install it and any marks whatsoever on the starter could give them the excuse to deny responsibility
There are poor copies of nearly everything on the Web at this stage

Not sure if my memory is correct but isn't the collar fitted to the middle of the three bolt holes?
I haven't got a gearbox or starter in front of me but usually the locating collar/dowel is on the middle bolt hole to ensure correct mesh of the teeth? Could be wrong but you should be able to see the collar location on both starter and gearbox with a mirror fairly easily.
