Hi All

Mine is a S2 pre f/l carb engine.

I have pretty much all of the loom positioned ready for taping back, but cannot remember how the two wires to the sensors on the top of the engine next to the plugs routes, any chance of either an explanation or photo?

Thanks

Hi Peter. I routed mine as shown in the pics. Seemed like the right place given the lengths, but I didn't have pics of how they were before I removed them.

On the second pic - the black and white one shouldn't have been there - as it went to the alternator, so ignore it.

Hi

Thanks. You have a facelift car and the routing is different and has the round connector. Mine has the two wires originating from near the cam cover and the alternator and loops around the distributor, no connectors are involved.

Would some under bonnet pics of mine help?

Hi Mark

Yes, that would be great. Mainly the area between the alternator and the pulley end cover around the distributor where the wires route from the side wing to the engine, also if you can get a decent shot of the wiring which comes around the front of the alternator and go to the oil filter and the starter motor. I cannot see where the loom is held in these areas.

Hi Mark

Thanks for photos, they are expected, not the best thought out routing.

Hi All

Moving on I now need to understand which sensor is which on the oil filter bracket. There appear to be three sensors and the question is which wire goes to which sensor?

Any photo of this area including the starter and alternator wire routing would also be useful.

Thanks

Ok, in answer to my question about which sensor is which, I had to mix info from the parts book and the wiring diagram so here goes......

Attached to the oil filter housing is a L shaped bracket with two sensors on, the larger round one which points upwards is the oil pressure gauge sender, nos 26 on the wiring diagram, the other horizontal sensor is the oil low pressure switch, nos 16 on the wiring diagram and finally the lone sensor on the other side of the filter housing is the oil temperature sensor, nos 25 on the wiring diagram.

The wiring colours are

Oil pressure sensor (26) Grey/Red
Oil low pressure switch (16) Hazel
Oil temp sensor (25) Yellow
