I currently posted this on the North American site but would love to get your opinions on this.

I just came across this opportunity tonight from a friend to buy an 81 Zagato Special Edition. The car doesn't run but the body is in decent shape. See the attached photos. I have a few questions and would love some honest, tough-love advice and opinions.

Thanks

1) Based solely on the photos and info here what do people think it is worth?

2) Searching the web I cannot confirm the total production number of these. Is it 500? 75? Some other number.  Any idea how many were shipped to the US?

3) Are they called "Special Edition" or "Limited Edition" and what is the difference?

The Lancia Zagato Targa Coupe was designed and modified from a coupe by Zagato. The Targa Top could be put into one of four configurations. From 1981-82, 791 units were built of which 75 were Special Edition.

What I came across on Google.

Did they give any hint as to the configurations?
I've had mine in three of the following four but I suspect it's not what was meant in your quoted search result!
1) Behind the front seats
2) In the boot
3) In the garage
4) In the windscreen of the car behind if you forget to secure the locking clamps

I think what they meant was;

1) Top off, rear dropped, all open.
2) Top off only
3) Rear dropped only
4) All closed.
