Ok, real rookie here so please be patient. My barn find has a seized motor and I've been unsuccessful in getting it to rotate. So I find myself looking for a long block to rebuild. Is the fiat spider 2000's block suitable if I use my intake, oil pan, and head? Thank you

Hi

No real first hand knowledge, but recent question re Monte versus Beta block answered by Eric said there were significant differences in some mounting points etc. Suspect the differences between in line and transverse engines will also be significant. Hopefully someone may have first hand experience..

Inline engine is vertical and Lancia engine is tilted 20deg.

The Block lugs are different with the alternator on the exhaust side on the in line engines. Best to find a Beta 2000 block. Later VX blocks have larger breathers and VX units have larger 228mm clutches.

I'm not sure that stops you using one? The definitive answer has been on here somewhere. Like the Montecarlo engine question it is just so much easier to use the correct block, but I guess Beta engines are rare in the US.

Thank you for the responses. Beta engines are becoming less common in the US and to make matters even worse, the car is in Hawaii. If anyone stumbles across a good 2000cc engine I would appreciate the chance to make a good of it.
