1979 Beta Coupe

« on: October 12, 2015, 06:12:50 PM »

Hello All- My 79 is closer to hitting the road.  I want to rebuild it and wonder if any of you have jetting ideas.  There are so many out there, and I could use advice on if there are optimal jetting sizes or to just go with the stock ones already in it???

IT is the 30/32 DHTA in my Coupe.

Unless you're planning to junk the emissions kit and bring it up to Euro spec I'd have to say go with the standard ones.

Oddly the Haynes manual doesn't list a DHTA fitted to any Betas - the US versions shows as 32 DATRA. That's not to say they weren't fitted though

Emissions systems are pulled out, even before I got her.  Some of it piecemeal, but all in all the motor runs strong enough.  Not sure how close to Euro Spec I can get her, but that is my thoughts for now.  FI later on down the road.  I figured if we are going through the carb, might upgrade if it will be good for driveability.  I thought going a bit bigger, nothing drastic.

It is definitely the 30/32 DHTA, stamped on the carb.  I also thought it odd...not in the Haynes I have, at all.

Thanks...Alex

Upgrading to a 34 DATR or DMTR might be worthwhile then.

It might be worth asking on the guy-croft forum about jetting  - they'll want to know all the details of the engine first though.

FI will make the pickup smoother and probably give you better mileage  - it won't always give more power.

Thanks for the advice, Stuart!  So, we are having significant issues with the 30/32 DHTA and the accompanying fuel system.  I have a line on a 34 DAT (not DATR or DATRA) for a decent price to replace the old DHTA.  I am a bit behind the 8 ball on what the DAT/DATR/DATRA differences are to know if this is a good idea or not.  Any help?
