Bought an old auction catalogue as I knew my car was included and now I know why the engine bay is beige (or 'Yew' to those in the know).

Hope I managed to attache the picture OK.

Ashley

That's fantastic!  What a great bit for the car's history file. Do you know what date the photo was taken?

Was the Yew colour original with the stripes added or was it something else before that?

It's from a Brooks auction brochure in 2000.  I initially thought it was just an example of the type of car for sale and not actually mine, but checked the documents and that was the original registration before a private plate was added and then changed to my reg number.

The first reference reference to colour on MOTs is 1992 when it is referred to as beige.  In 2004 it was painted red.  Is there somewhere else I can check what the paint was when it came from the factory.

Pretty sure that beige is probably original, without the stripe, not the most delightful of colours but very 70s I suppose. If you haven't already done so you can fill out a form pay a modest fee and get copies of all docs from dvla including the original registration form which should confirm the original colour.
