I suspect that the after market electric fuel pump that has been fitted by a previous owner to my HPE VX has failed, or at least that its power supply has a problem.   I do not know where the pump is!  When it works I can hear it whirring at the back of the car.  If you were going to fit an electric pump, where would you put it?  I want to narrow down the options before I start taking bits off to find the pump.    It is not inside the fuel tank, as far as I am aware, although I suppose that it could be.    All super sleuth inspirations gratefully received, although I realise that there is no substitute for actually seeing the car, and there may be more than one place where the pump could be located.    Some of you may have electric pumps on your HPEs or Coupes, and I would be interested to hear where they are placed.

Probably somewhere near where the pipe comes out from the top of the tank, near the rear suspension member or the brake compensator?? The ie filter is in that area I think?

Here is the view from under the back of the car on a Coupe IE (with the tank removed, the hole at the top is access for the sender unit). The pump is the same on the Coupe VX, and I'm pretty sure the HPE. As above, the pump sits on the rear cross member. I think the filter may be different on the VX, but can't really get at anything to check easily atm.

It's easy to get at if you have the rear of the car up on some ramps. Only takes around an hour. You have to remove a heat shield between the exhaust and cross member and it comes out without too much hassle...............................ask me how I know? Only replaced mine 10 days ago Roll Eyes Pump's the same as an Alfa 75 twin spark or Alfa spider S4. Need to buy a spare now.
