The sills, valence and bottom parts of the front wings on my Spider are covered in a heavily textured coating - presumably a stonechip protector.

The question is, is it original? I'd have thought so but the photos I've gone through show many cars without it (they may of course have been restored) and a few with.

Any ideas as to whether they left the factory like this?

I went through same thing with my S1 coupe , yes, stone chip protector was applied at factory, originally it wasn't as thick as what's applied these days.
