I just recently bought a 1981 lancia beta zagato for restoration. The car is in great shape for sitting in a garage for 20 years and only has 13,000 miles on it. The down side is that the keys have been lost through the course of time. My question is if anyone on here would know how to find the key code for the ignition or if it would just be easier to replace the entire ignition itself, and if so, where I could get another ignition. Thanks for any help...........the door keys were a lot easier to replace.

You would need to ask, sorry I never thought about that just happened to have been on their site few days ago and seen they had them in stock. There are quite a few other suppliers both in Europe and in the US if you search the net you should come across most of them

I had a spare and checked it. The codes on this one are on the face where the key inserts. You may have to remove the plastic shroud to see them. There are screws holding the plastic bottom half to the top. You'll have to look under there with a light to see how many.

Does the code on your spare start with an "A"?

There are two separate codes. One is all alpha (six letters) and does start with an "A". The other is all numeric and starts with a "5".

Yeah. Those aren't the codes AVVMAR is the key positions and 50050 is just a generic serial number for the lock. Thank you though.
