Hi Guy's...I'm puzzled by the bonnet release cables.  Just got the Coupe back from the spray shop and the rebuild begins.  I was about to re-install the bonnet release mechanism but there seems to be more cable ends than places to put them?

The bulkhead cable goes across to the nearside mech: then there's a second cable from nearside to offside mech:...fair enough...but there's a short intermediate cable (6" long) for the life of me I can't seem to find a home for.

Anyone got any ideas or photo's

Cheers

John.

Just played this game myself. If I may link to another forum ...
http://www.lancisti.net/forum/showthread.php?7056-Hood-bonnet-latch-picture-wanted

This was the set-up on my car:

Might be different for RHD but later US cars had a dual release system: one lever on each side. Both levers are attached to one of the latches, in the case of my LHD car, it was the LH latch. Then there is a cable that connects the LH latch to the RH latch.

Here is from a friend's early LHD Beta Coupe. I think it only has one release lever.

Hope that helps!

Can't imagine what that little cable is for. I don't see that on this old Microfiche but it's from c. 1975

I wonder if it has anything to do with these little notches in the sheet metal. The don't appear to have any purpose on my 1981. This is in the cowl area on the bracket that receives the little mushroom-shaped post that is screwed into the bonnet. RH side of the car. There is another one on the other side of this bracket as well. Looks to be about the right size.

Gengis, is your system two levers or just one?
