Any tips on getting at the inner (cylinder head side) screw. Can't seem to get my long shaft screwdriver in there!

To my shame I have not tackled this job in five years of ownership. It's not that it's seized, I just can't get the head of the driver into the slot. Shocking lack of access for a regular service part, even by Lancia standards.

never had one in that spec so no idea on your problem but remember they were only in training doing awkward access with the Beta they fully flourished at it with the later cars, try working on some of the 16v cars!!

Have you tried loosening the distributor clamp and rotating the whole thing to get access?

(Mark its position first obviously)

Will try that Stuart, was hoping not to disturb the timing if there was an easier way.

Sadly not - sometimes even the clip on ones are a sod to get to.
