Hi ,

Just bought a spider, should be known to members as it was once owned by a chap called Kempton Moddy who along with other well known forum members had there cars featured in a major magazine feature a few years ago (Classic &sports car November 2008).

The spider is silver a 1977 model in very good condition ,however on my first run to the mot station this week it broke down with the AA

Congratulations on your purchase, it is a lovely car. Sorry to hear of the breakdown, nothing serious I hope.

Welcome to the forum... :-)

Was it something minor that caused the breakdown?  I'm trying to think of the car but I'm stuck, maybe some pics would jog my memory!

I hope your back on the road and enjoying the drive.

Sorry about my first log ,only half the text appeared on the page................

The AA guy was very competent but gave up after two hours, stating that the carb would require setting up and a good service .The front n/s brake calliper is also seized.

Would anyone know where i can buy a carb service kit? I think the carb is a webber.

Regarding the car it's in excellent condition having been restored some years ago ,the mileage is 54k supported by the mot's.

Reg number is XCP 34R, 1.6 ENGINE ,COLOUR SILVER WITH BROWN INTERIOR,

So looking forward to driving it soon, and when i get it running and back out of my garage i'll post some pictures.

Welcome to the forum
So pleased Kempton's car has found a good home  Smiley

The Classic and Sports Car feature was a great Beta article, which also included my Silver Coupe  Smiley

Not sure if Kempton gave you a copy of Tony Bakers photos(Classic & Sports Car Photographer) if not I can burn you a copy
