The only time I ever really have to think hard about the value of my cars is when it comes to the insurance.   Huh?

The ie is not in this months VL so perhaps it sold? Richard Thorne has a Guy Croft engined VX Coupe for sale at £5750, resprayed and claimed to be 'amazing'. Thorne's are usually pretty good judges of what they can get for Lancias, so perhaps this represents the current top value for Coupes?

if the engine is a full GC build the car could be a bargain, as the car is non-original the value is perhaps in the eye of the beholder but personally I don't like the bodykit much. I still think that £5 to £6 k for an original vx coupé in truly excellent but not concours condition is about right

See what you mean about the body kit! Would have been far better in an original style spec. Reduced by £1K already.

I think the body kit isn't so bad taking in consideration that this was a bit of a track day car so it's a bit 'horses for courses' but it is a bit off putting. Would be curious to know if it is a pucka Guy Croft engine or just one with some GC parts fitted.

I must admit, i'm not afraid to modifications and change but that front and rear bumper doesn't do much for me. I think it needs some side skirts as a minimum to make it look pleasant; if not strip it back to standard. Guy Croft engine or not, still pricey considering its missing interior trim and wipers.

Richard Thorne took the car along to LMC Goodwood Trackday, one did a few laps so sadly no on track pics of it.
the car used to belong to the late Simon Bray, was to be a member on here.

I think Mark W (www.lanciabetaparts.co.uk) helped Simon source a lot of parts for that car, anyone interested in the car would be worth speaking to Mark

Did anyone watch the tidy brown Coupe struggle up to £1250 on eBay this week. It did not meet it's reserve. Things are slow on values at the moment. A pity when older Lancia values seem to be on fire.

It might help if the car was nicely polished up and presented always amazes me how folks put stuff on Ebay without presenting it properly. It looked sound in pictures but it did look very drab

FYI I ended up with that S1 Spyder. Was apparently very lucky with the condition, although the paint job leaves alot to be decided.  I understand the change to red, but the beige (or should that be yew) engine bay is pretty nasty.

I've deliberated over the gold wheels as I know they are ugly, but I fell for the car like that so might retain them.

The beige isn't very delightful however as a series 1 the red is wrong, if it was mine I would be tempted to repaint it in a proper series one spider colour and definitely put the wheels back to original which on s1 cars is a duller finish than on later cars.

Didn't they offer red with the S1 cars, as I think I've seen a picture of one?

They did 'red' of a sort rosso capannelle which is nearer to a burnt orange and rosso Brighton which was a metallic red  (quite an unusual shade) both colours AFAIK exclusive to the spider although I think capannelle might have been offered on the fulvia sport Huh? But I'm no expert

I think your car was probably beige vinovo must have been fashionable at the time but looks like primer to me!
Cars without the reinforcing bar over the side windows and frameless door glass are extremely rare, later cars look similar in most respects so that may have caused confusion over colour plus it is common for folk to repsray any Italian car post box red.
