still not able to get my engine to run right. i have rechecked the ignition timing and stripped and cleaned the carb again, it is still running rich and what ever i do makes no difference, even if i take the piolet screw out it is still running rich. it seems to run better if i disconnect the fuel shut off thing on the back of the carb.
it is running better but every now and again it back fires through the carb. it will rev to 6000 but it still seems to be better when its on the second choke.
there is another diaphragm with 3 screws on the opposite side to the choke, it seems ok, but what does it do?
i have cleaned out all of the jets and every air way with air line and carb cleaner, is there any other way to adjust the mixture?

May have said it before - is it not time to run it past a specialist? Got to be cheaper than a new car? The Webers are normally reliable but they are a complex bit of kit. The are not particularly adjustable other than changing the jets. I think you are describing the accelerator pump. Certainly worth opening it up to see if the rubber diaphragm is split.
