Hi All

cant get the radiator plug back in.
I wasnt paying attention when taking it off but i think it was off in less than one turn..
I guess the problem is that there appears to be next to no thread on the inside rim ..seems to be a soft alloy.. or am i missing a washer aswell?

sorry if its a dim question but im having a bad day :-(

thanks

Sounds like its stripped.
Needs more than one full turn to come off.
Early or late car? - early has the plug underneath, later has it located on the battery side by the bottom corner and its undone from the engine bay.
plug material is brass and has tapered thread - so usually no washer needed.
Sounds like you may need the services of a radiator specialist.

Thanks for rapid response Hutch.

its the early type. Ive just applied a bit more pressure to flex the bottom of the radiator and its held on what evers left of the thread.... two turns at most mind,  so i'll need to keep an eye on it.

cheers!

Just watch it does not pop off on you if you get stuck in bad traffic, especially now the weather is beginning to warm up.

will do.... It's just survived a huge northbound tailback from A3 @ roehampton towards Putney in london which is a good test.....its running a bit hot even in free traffic but it was an unusually hot day
