Good Afternoon to all,

Last weekend I had some fun with my Beta at The SISA 24 lap race for classic cars in Athens.
The car is a standard model with one 36 Weber carb.
It is using Spax inserts, low springs and all bushes from Betaboyz and a set of Toyo 888 tyres.
Hope you enjoy.

Great stuff, looks like you won as well?! Smiley
Like your front seats as well, sporty but suit the car well.

I always enjoy the Beta. It is such a great car with amazing handling.
As far as I know the Beta was always the 2nd car behind the 037. Sad
Maybe this is the reason why there was no evolution.

This looks like great fun and really shows the fantastic handling I am looking forward to enjoying again. A really good advert for what you can do with sorted suspension and sticky tyres. Ohh and great driving!!
I did notice a lot of low oil pressure warning light so I assume you have a standard sump. Probably time for a baffled sump and Accusump so you can keep on enjoying the track without running a bearing.

Great car thanks for sharing.

Many thanks for the commets.
I suppose what I already have done with the sump is not enough. Sad

great video, nice driving, what camera are you using, is it a go pro HD? Looks like you have power steering as well?

I have a similar set up suspension/tyre wise and had big problems with oil surge as you are when going around right hand corners. (I do hillclimb and track work) As Eric suggested an accusump is the answer to all your problems and a lot cheaper than an engine rebuild! I fitted mine with a remote oil filter and oil cooler - well worth the expense.

Hi 75Coupe,

Very interested in what you've done with the air feed to your twin DCOEs. Im guessing you've constructed an airbox/air filter and fed cool air in from the N/S wheel arch. Does that about sum it up? Be very interested to hear/see more about how you did that...

Hi there 75coupe

I am using the drift/vstc1=hd170-stealth camera and yes I have power steering. Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to act so fast.
You have done a great work with your beta.
I also admire the carb set up as I believe it is the correct way to feed the Beta with fresh air and plenty of Gas. Are you using 45 webers?
Can you please advise the cost of the accusump?

yes I am using 45DCOE's, high CR, high lift cams etc. I have just acquired a VX head which is going to gasflowed to replace the original.

I made the airbox out of aluminium and insulated it with self adhesive foam to stop heat transfer, fitted remote filter, which is fed via alloy ducting to the side of the radiator. With the original carb radiator I measured air intake temp and it was +48 deg C on one carb and 24 deg C on the other carb (with ambient at 24 deg C), so a massive difference between carbs....Now all is good.

I also removed the large rubber boots around the steering rack rods on the inner wing, which aided with underbonnet airflow as well. This is important as where I live it can reach 40 deg C outside !!!

Some more pics including latest replacement of header tank and DIY strutbrace:

Hi ck037,

Thanks for the comments and have a great Christmas!

I forgot you asked about the accusump. It is made by Canton a US company ana 2 quart one costs around $200 US. This would then need a manual hand valve ($20) and a filter adapter and hose ($50-90) to connect to your engine. You do not need an oil cooler or remote filter to fit it.

Not sure if you saw it or not by i have a video posted too:

Hi Ian and Happy New Year

I wish all the Best for you and your Beta. It looks and sounds great. I read that you are having some trouble with the brakes. I had it too. I have now replaced the standard disks with the Bremdo 257 mm  with the Lancia Delta 1,6 turbo calipers and the Ferodo DS 2000 pads.  I also replaced  the brakes regulator from a Peugeot 206 as I had some extra brakes on the rear wheels after the lowering of the suspension springs.
Check out the photos

Happy New Year ck037!

Thanks for the photos of your brake setup, Looks good, I have a couple of questions though:

Are the Delta turbo calipers a direct fit, or did you have to make brackets?

How does the wheel centre on the hub now, as there is no support ring on the discs?

How did you connect the brake lines to the master cylinder?

Thanks

Hi there Ian.
Regarding the Calipers I had to adjust new brackets.
As for the Brake line I had to make it single by putting plugs at the double output of the front braking lines. I managed to keep the old support ring and there is no problem with the wheels now.
I will try to take some better photos and upload them.
