Sorry I have only just found out from Duncan23 that Betaboyz forum member hongkongphooey (Simon Baldwin ) was involved in a road accident with a truck at the end of Febuary
and sadly was killed.

Simon's project Spider has been an Inspiration to a lot of Beta owners (please see Duncans original post below)

RIP Simon and thoughts go to his family

I discovered some very sad news on retro rides - HKP was killed in a crash in his Celica.  :'(

You can see the finished car on page 7 here:

Never met him, but what talent he had...  :'(

Sad news indeed, I recall his Beta Spider restoration and I most definately thought about what he'd achieved when rebuilding the rear subframe, tie rods and rear ARB - those images stuck in my mind and were what I was aiming for but a little less bling!

May he rest in peace, in the great garage in the sky Sad

Terrible news  Sad
He gave great inspiration and fresh ideas to many of us, such a shame I never had the chance to meet him. I wish his family all the best and hope his gorgeous spyder lives on in his memory. A truly gorgeous bit of engineering inside and out.

That is sad news and my thoughts go out to his family.

I never met him but I did have some email conversations with him last year and he came across as a really nice guy who was willing to help whenever he could.
