It sounds obvious but RUST and ELECTRICS

Assuming you've checked the mechanical stuff and that it runs OK - most of which is relatively simple to sort or available through the specialists or e-bay. Check that everything electrical works and there's no odd behaviour like the wrong lights coming on. Any bodged wiring you can spot (like scotchlok connectors) probably spells trouble for you at some point.

Rust could feature anywhere but expensive bits to fix are the inner rear suspension turrets (check from under the arches and fron inside the boot) , the back end of the sills and the screen surround. Also check the floor, the bonnet and the aresa around the mounting points for the fron subframe. Be suspicious of any new areas of underseal and assume the worst lurks under them unless the sellers got photos of the repairs.

Bit's that are more difficult to obtain at the moment are shocks (the coupe and spider ones at least), exhaust centre sections and fuel tanks that don't leak !

A scan through this forum and also Lancisti.net will give you aa good idea of the problems that crop up regularly.

That said don't be put off - they're great cars and (IMHO) one of the best lookers to come out of the 70's.

thanks Stewart most helpful
I am going to look at the car today t is up for sale at £1095.00 with tax and mot and am a little worried as it has had a respray (i am hoping not to hide nasties underneath)
The chap selling it is a trader (which of course is not a problem) but again I am hoping it is not a p/x from hell.
