Title: Mark's Pictures
Post by: mark on February 14, 2010, 07:42:54 PM
;D Just finished refitting my steering rack. After doing this I have decided I am able to paint hall, stairs and landings through your letterbox  ;) Could anybody please tell me what series of Beta mine is? Also, is auto desireable? Does anybody know the name of the colour of the car?

Hope I've not let anybody down with the car. Can't wait to use it on the road and thanks to everybody who has been of help!

Cheers, Mark.

it is series2FL I'll check the colour later when I have more time is there not a sticker on the boot lid?

appears to be 105 lancia blue there are lots of variations on that colour, in the 60s on fulvias and so on it was so dark as to nearly look black, so when getting paint/touch in you must quote the actual colour code

Hi Mark,

The car is Blu Lord / Lord Blue - I used to have a standard but for some reason very fast 2000 Coupe'  (ALH 555 Y) in the same colour, I remember getting the paint from Brown brothers and theres a rather macabre story attached to the location where the car was painted in Slough.

If it is lord blue code is 438 it would seem to be from 1978 onwards, there are at least two shades  of 438 listed one is for autobianchi a112 (on Autocolor chart 438 gm74) and another presumably for lancias (on Autocolor chart 438 fg71) that's just how crazy those Italians are!! The chart I posted earlier is from around 1978 and shows blue lancia, it could be that there was a change over of colour that year the only way to be 100% sure on an individual car is if there is still a colour sticker on the bootlid, year of reg can be confusing as some cars sat around a while, a few years back I had a berlina built in 1979 registered on an x-reg in 1981!! . Later injection cars (that's Series 2 FL2 confusing isn't it!!)  were definitely lord blue (but not coupés in UK where AFAIK you could have only red or black unless it was a volumex) ..... oh and I should add that you couldn't get lord blue on any s2FL" coupé in the UK as we didn't get the full colour range

;D   Fantastic, Thanks to everyone for your help.   ;D     I went out around the block for the first time over weekend and it seems to pull quite well and changes up and down well, which was a worry as i had to take a chance on the engine and box being good when i bought it. The steering is a bit on the heavy side but im sure will free off with a bit more use, ( spiolt by power steering ) and will be fine once up to speed. I also fitted a new set of front pads and checked the rears which are good, but the for the first few applications had my old ticker jumping around !! but again these will only get better with use. The exhaust has developed a blow since going out in it so I will have to a look at that, and im hoping its something I can weld up or patch up. I will try to crack on as fast as possible because im dying to get it tested and on the road.  Cheers Mark. ;)
