Title: Beta Spyder: Disconnected Electrical Connections in the Boot
Post by: Rpat29 on November 16, 2024, 03:26:56 PM
Hi

Can anyone help identify the two unconnected connectors in the photos and what they should be connected to or what they were connected to please?
These are from my 1981 Lancia Beta Spyder which I recently acquired and noticed then not connected to anything.
The connectors are located in the boot on the drivers side

thx
Raj

Raj,
I have a Haynes book with all the wiring diagrams.

If you post the wire colours on each fitting, I may be able
to assist tomorrow.

Hi Nigel

Haynes may not help as a late Spider?

Did the optional hardtop have a heated screen on the Spider and maybe one is for that?

1 will be for US Spec Electric Fuel Pump the other US Spec Side Markers. Tape over the open ends and forget about them.

Thanks Guys

I think you are right that it may be for US versions side lights but my car is UK RHD model.
Maybe they install a generic loom that is adaptable for various versions

As Peter said, the Haynes book is not necessarily good for later models but I do
have diagrams for post-Haynes era cars, so my offer is still open
if you're interested.

Hi,

In my 1985 HPE VX the grey/black goes to the fuel pump under the car, before the fuel tank.
The other one with the 2 yellow/black wires is missing in my HPE.

Kind regards,
Gerrit

Hi,
Gerrit is correct on the Grey/Black function.

The other connector is Yellow/Black and Black which appears to be for
the front and rear fog lights, bizarrely. It's showing as a link between the two, which may
be done in that way due to the requirement for fogs to work only when on dipped beam.
Both legs come from both switches.

Confused? Your not alone!

Agree.. Very Confusing.
Mine is an 1981 RHD Beta Spyder but in my original owners manual the wiring schematics are for LHD models.
Maybe they wire all the same , see photo
Can anyone work out which number the two connectors refer to?

138 is the fuel pump one

And 140 with two yellow/black and two black wires leads to the side clearance lights.
This wire is only for US versions. So you can ignore it…
