Title: Cold Starting Post by: Dogsbody on August 23, 2023, 12:37:03 PM Hello all. My Coupe 2000ie is not following the rules on starting from cold! If I turn her over on the starter without touching anything she will eventually stagger into life at very low rpm and require throttle for a couple of minutes to warm up slightly. As she warms up the tickover gradually gets to normal speed.
On the other hand if I spin her over and dab the throttle she starts instantly and has to be held on the throttle until she warms up a bit. I assume there is some fault in the cold starting mechanism. Any advice would be welcome! Otherwise is it a sensor fault; i.e. no signal to the ECU that the engine is cold?
