Title: Facelift Spyder under dash auxiliary poer socket.
Post by: Clifford on August 04, 2022, 07:51:07 PM
Good Evening all.
So I have just discovered the power socket under the dash on the passenger side of the car. It is disconnected with one male spade terminal sticking out of it.
Should there be an earth for this and what kind of plug can you insert into the socket. Because the car was designed 50 odd years ago I can't think what device you would plug into it or what the plug would look like. Looking at the socket itself it's hard to figure out how it works.
I can't find any earlier posts on this subject but may have somehow missed it.
Thanks
C

Hi

I think it was probably for the rechargeable torch  ? not sure what year cars these were fitted to, I guess early cars.
I've only ever seen a couple over the last couple of years.

Found this other post : http://www.betaboyz.myzen.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1459.0 (http://www.betaboyz.myzen.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1459.0)

I'm sure others can confirm if this is right.

Cheers Tony

Crikey, I have been around Betas for a bit but have never heard of this.
I don't remember it in my HPE in the 80's
Thank you for clarifying

Hi Clifford

I believe it was an option at the time.

That makes sense Peter. But the under dash socket it self was probably standard.
I wouldn't mind one of I can find one but it's not critical.
I am not on Facebook.

Hi

Yes, socket standard, you may not like his price, suspect >£100 and it may not even work or if it does last long.

LEDs are so much better torches
