Title: Poetic License Gone Mad
Post by: The_Matrix_Master on June 22, 2022, 10:09:17 AM
Surely this is nothing more than a Dealer Conversion as the seller states (and doesn't appear to be a good one at that) rather than a "prototype" as the seller alludes to !!!!!

"Sporting a full-length convertible roof, this unique Lancia Delta is a prototype for an intended limited-production model that never materialised".

A high degree of cobblers in that advert.

Unless the rest of if is done to a far higher standard than the roof it will have all the structural integrity of a wet teabag.

It was a proper conversion, like Crayford, done by H R Owen with a view to limited production but the project didn't progress the prototype. https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/21899/lot/358/ (https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/21899/lot/358/)

Quite a few deltas were converted mostly 1300  models but this might be the only turbo. Not really a prototype but part of a short run of conversions, I think they were approved by Lancar but aren't a Lancia product, they also did the same style conversion on Prismas and they looked a lot better.  Mountview motors sold quite a few back in the day..

'proper' being a very flexible term in this case! It might not be but it it looks bodged (in fact it looks awful IMHO). All it has on it's side is rarity. Looking at the pics the screen scuttle will be holed and that panel gap suggests all is not well with the chassis ( or A pillar) either.

Each to their own and all that but....
