Title: Coupe 2000ie
Post by: gjb0535 on October 09, 2021, 10:04:08 PM
Bought the car in 2019 after previously owning it in the late 80s

It used to be red and is now dark grey The L jetronic has been replaced with an aftermarket ecu and the original metal sunroof has being replaced by a glass one which is not the most water tight.

The plan over the next few years is to collect the parts I need to overhaul the mechanical stuff and tidy up the bodywork to take the car back to red.

I have already replaced the plenum with a set of throttle bodies and have started tidying up under the bonnet.

The first pic of the red car is early 90s and the dark grey is now.

Hi

Welcome to the forum, curious which throttle bodies and ECU you are using?

Peter

Hi Darren

Yeah, Im not looking for a nut a bolt resto more a tidy up as I want to use the car and not just keep it in my garage .
.........
The car is no longer standard so I will make some minor mods sorry people that like originality

Hi Peter

Darren did most of the work when he had the car replacing the ecu I was in two minds to go back to the L jet or continue with it
The throttle bodies are of a gsxr 600 as the choke sizes were a good match for the cylinder head The inlet manifold was custom made by Dan ST engineering and I had to make up a throttle cable re do some of the fuel pipes and fit an adjustable fuel pressure regulator The car needs mapped again and I have found a place an hour away that can do this
I have a few choices re the sunroof and have decided to remove the old one and fit a larger one that I got from a car breaker. My wifes car has a panoramic roof and I like the light this brings in to the car so the larger sunroof will give me plenty of light.

Here is a pic showing the difference in the size of the sunroofs and a pic of the new roof prior to removal from breakers yard.

The sidelights reverse and brake lights have been replaced with LED bulbs. Ive still got the flashers to do but need to get a resistor as they will flash too quickly

Ive replaced the steering wheel with a 3 spoke one.

The car had good company with other Lancias at a car show in Scotland in August

The car broke done recently when the centre driveshaft to diff splined coupling failed and thanks to Alan Cooper I got a replacement

Hi Graham

Thanks for info is the ECU as per Darren’s install?

Also on the led lights for flashers, forget the resistors and simply replace the flasher unit with a modern one which is led compatible. Simple and cheap and works.

I used a CF14 as per this listing

Thanks for the advice re flasher unit.

Yes the ecu is as per Darren's install. Only change is I removed the plenum and fitted the throttle bodies. I've also moved the cooling fan to the front of the radiator.

Inlet manifold for throttle bodies supplied by dan st engineering.

New fuel rail made by same company.

Radiator tilted back to allow more air flow.

Heat shield fitted as well as 2 cold air feeds from under the bumper to the air filter.

Next job is to wire up the cooling fan and fit an override switch on the dash.

So I removed the sunroof to get to the original sunroof hole on the car.

Ive started to rub the roof back to metal and have enlarged the hole slightly to fit the webasto glass one I got from the breakers.

The pictures show a test fit.

to fit the new roof involves moving the roof strengthening bar back slightly.
